Toop’s Troops was started in 2002 in honor of Steve Toop. It started out as a group of friends who joined together to ride in his honor. A few years later we became a non-profit organization through the Community Foundation of Carroll County. Through that organization, we benefit others in the community through scholarships, motorcycle rides, and public dinners. Our dedication to Steve’s memory drives us to continually help others, in the same ways he would wish.
Shortly after Steve’s death, Toop’s Troops held their first annual pig roast to raise money for the Community Foundation of Carroll County to help other non-profit organizations in the area. Since then, Toop’s Troops has established scholarships for students from Francis Scott Key and Westminster High Schools as well as other charity events.
Toop’s Troops is funded through members’ dues, designated fundraising events and contributions. It is operated by a 10-member Board of Officers selected by members in good standing by vote.
